It's been nearly an entire week since the last Club Nintendo year came to an end on June 30, but now Nintendo of America has finally revealed the prizes available to those loyal customers who achieved Gold or Platinum account status before that day came and went. (If that sentence made no sense to you at all, check out last week's article for some more clarification.)

First up, the Platinum prizes for users who earned 600 Coins or more. There are two Platinum-exclusive options this year, the first of which is a set of three new posters featuring promotional art from Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword and Kid Icarus: Uprising. Club Nintendo has previously offered Zelda posters as a standard reward, but this particular design is all-new – and kind of makes it look like Link's getting impaled in the head with the Master Sword. (Perhaps Wind Waker-era Ganondorf was in charge of composition.)

The Gold-level prizes, for users who earned at least 300 Coins before June 30, are once again headlined by a calendar. It's the standard Gold gift every year it seems, and this year's version should include artwork of Wii U launch software like Nintendo Land and New Super Mario Bros. U. I say "should," since the company hasn't revealed any images of it yet – just like every year, we'll have to wait until closer to 2013 to see what the 2013 calendar will look like. (Platinum status earners can also select the calendar instead of the posters or cards, if they choose.)

Lastly, a new option added for this year – games! Club Nintendo started offering game downloads a few months ago, so Platinum and Gold users can opt to ignore all of the physical prizes to instead score a free digital download instead. The games on offer are Super Mario Kart and The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask from the Wii Virtual Console, Metroid II: Return of Samus from the 3DS Virtual Console and Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Minis March Again! from DSiWare (only redeemable on a 3DS, though.) Note that if you go the game download route, you only get to pick one of these listed titles.

Ehh... kinda disappointed with Platinum rewards. At least the playing cards look like they have some quality since they're plastic and all but... they're nothing special if you ask me. And the posters don't look like they took any effort at all to design, hell Kid Icarus's poster is just the cover art blown up.

Oh well. Free stuff is free stuff I suppose.

Yeah, I prefer the posters they've offered for coin redemption. I'll probably get the playing cards.

Those posters are ... really disappointing, they're just the promotional images :\
I'll take the playing cards for sure.

I already have enough Club Nintendo Zelda posters, to be honest (and one is from Skyward Sword so ...)

I just noticed on the poster description: "Each poster features special printing effects, making them unique pieces to add to your Nintendo collection. "

Do you guys think they've actually added something special to them so that they aren't normal posters? Or is that just some marketing BS to make them sound better?

The probably have special effects. Among the standard rewards the Mario timeline poster has this shiny blue background. The DK timeline poster has a shiny gold background. The Zelda timeline poster has some shiny silver stuff. The Skyward Sword watercolor-style poster does not have a glossy finish. It looks more raw, and is textured to the touch. I'm sure they did something special like that to these posters, but I still don't care for the designs.

Did anyone else notice that parts of the reward cards are transparent? Weird.

This is my first year on the rewards program and I'm pretty bummed out at the choices. I'm a sucker for posters so I'll probably end up with those but mehhh... kind of lame.

Last year was really disappointing to me. I ended up picking the posters this year. I already have Majora's Mask, and the cards just didn't do it for me. The images on them weren't unique. If it had been Mario dressed as a King, Peach dressed as a Queen, maybe things would be different.

I'm only gold this year so it looks like a game download for me. Too bad I have most of those games already.

I ordered the cards. I'm severely disappointed with the options but the last thing I need is more posters and I don't want a digital reward so I guess it was my only choice.

I'm in the same boat you are. The posters don't do anything for me nor does a calendar. The games aren't anything different than what can be purchased or what I have in another format so that leaves the unimpressive but still somewhat unique cards. Oh well, they're free so I can't complain too loudly.
