Castlevania Music

Post by philipofmacedon »

I started playing Castlevania: Curse of Darkness and it's really not bad. Anyway, I was looking at this week's Overlooked Music Mix and it inspired me to post. I enjoy the music in Castlevania games and was looking for suggestions on albums and songs, game or otherwise, that sound Castlevaniaish. Or just music that someone who likes Castlevania tunes would enjoy.

I crave electric guitars.
I enjoy organ music.
I like piano pieces.
I don't mind a little techno beat.

Castlevania brings these all together for me.

Trans-Siberian Orchestra's Beethoven's Last Night occurred to me. Also I thought of some of Matt Uelman's Diablo music, especially the caves music from the original.

I really can't think of much. But I can suggest some CV albums you might not have. Look for the three Perfect Selection albums, and also check out Goat's album.

Yeah the Dracula Battle Perfect Selection albums are great. If you haven't heard them you really should give them a listen (there are 2).
Along the same vein, the Konami Shooting Battle Perfect Selection soundtracks (of which again there are 2 albums) may be of interest to you.

If you enjoyed the chapel music from Castlevania SOTN you might like "Divinity Statue" from the Devil May Cry 2 OST.

Another album I would recommend if the Vagrant story OST. Although it won't satisfy your guitarlust it has some tracks with a similar vibe to castlevania. Particularly the track called "Undercity", and to a lesser extent "Large Chapel Garret".

Most of the guitar-tastic tracks I have are Megaman-related, Metallica or Rob Zombie, none of which particuarly resemble Castlevania so I can't help you much in that department, apart from recommending the perfect selection albums (which are full of guitars, and ace!).

No, 3.

Perfect Selection Dracula Battle I
Perfect Selection Dracula Battle II
Perfect Selection Dracula Battle ~New Classic~

New Classic is actually my favorite. It's less metal, but more symphonic and atmospheric, and just beautiful.
