Re: oXBOX won't eject...
I havent opened an xbox before.
Was it noisy when the tray opened previously?
but maybe it needs some grease?
Some gear probably isnt connecting.
should be easy to fix when you add some grease to those gears.

I remember there being a little hole you can push a paper clip into. It should pop open then.
Up and right from the 2nd controller port, below the bottom left corner of the disc drive.

Re: oXBOX won't eject...
It wasn't noisy before. But I will check the gears if I can get it open.
I will see If I can locate the hole for the paper clip too.
thanks

Re: oXBOX won't eject...
Once you've opened it up, there's a small belt drive attached to two gears underneath the disk tray. Take that out (I used a jeweler's screwdriver) and soak it briefly in a mild solution of soap and water, then dry it off with a lint-free cloth. Reattach the belt (again, I used a jeweler's screwdriver to slip it over the gears) and let us know how it's working. The issue is most likely that the belt has become brittle or dusty over time, and it's slipping on the gears rather than pushing the tray out. If you're nervous, there's plenty of more detailed guides on how to do this on the other side of a google search.
I should note that, while this worked for my 360, I think I need to buy an entirely new belt for my oXbox because it still doesn't eject fully without a little coercion. I think the rubber is just too brittle to repair.

Thanks for the advice on getting the belt out. I haven't attempted it yet, I have my daughters until tuesday and we've been on a Mario marathon via super mario all-starssabrage wrote:.

Re: oXBOX won't eject...
You know, I found a site when I was poking around about 3 months ago and now I can't find it again. The belts were about $4 each so I decided against ordering one... I think it was based in Europe too. I've heard people say they used those little rubber bands that attach to braces (to correct over/underbite) but the actual belt has very little "play" so that seems like an imperfect solution to me. It doesn't stretch very far at all.
