Anybody gotten a traffic ticket laywer to contest speeding?
I've heard people recommend it. And of course all the laywers' sites recommend it, but I can't find much about actual results.

Just sayin'. If one was speeding take the lump, do defensive driving, and behave in future. If not and it was someone else passing that was actually the speeder, then I have no advice on the subject. The one time I was being stupid and got pinched, it obviously wasn't the 18 wheeler going that fast. Glad I don't have that car to get me in trouble anymore.

You obviously haven't seen the 18 wheelers that drive on 285.
Anyway, I don't have anything to say on the matter of whether or not I was speeding, but the cost isn't the only issue (or the issue at all). Traffic lawyers are supposedly able to reduce the cost of the ticket, as well as eliminating points from you license, which can result in higher insurance. You don't want something on your record if you can avoid it.

Does your state offer the ability to get the ticket deferred if you take a defensive driving course? When I got my speeding ticket I was able to take the course and pay a fine and have it not go on my record as long as I didn't get any infractions over the next year.Jrecee wrote:You obviously haven't seen the 18 wheelers that drive on 285.

I don't know. I'm going to look into it. Does the course cost anything? And was it a reduced fine?
Re: Anybody gotten a traffic ticket laywer to contest speedi
I don't remember if the fine was reduced or not (this was about 7 years ago). The course did cost something, but it was similar to the fine. I decided that the biggest thing was not getting any infractions on my recordJrecee wrote:I don't know. I'm going to look into it. Does the course cost anything? And was it a reduced fine?

It was several years ago, but I think DD cost me $25-30 when I took it.

The court fees usually end up being close or the same. They still want their money. You save on insurance by not having a ticket on driving record.Hobie-wan wrote:It was several years ago, but I think DD cost me $25-30 when I took it.
