from Kotaku:

Goichi Suda, the man behind No More Heroes and Killer 7 (above), is working on a new game called Killer Is Dead. According to the upcoming issue of Famitsu, Suda is directing this assassin title. The game apparently takes its cues from both Killer 7 and No More Heroes. Killer Is Dead, however, is an original game.

The game follows a protagonist on a mission to rub out his killer.

Killer Is Dead is like a "Dark Side 007" and features James Bond style Bond Girls and sword play, much like No More Heroes, but with new twists.

Killer Is Dead is slated for a 2013 release on the Xbox 360 and PS3.

Mixed feelings. More Suda is always good (has anyone played Sine Mora yet?! I think Diabolical Pitch is out now too) but the adolescent grindhouse tone of his last several games is really starting to wear out its welcome with me. I know the Tarantino comparison is thrown around a lot (regarding a lot of recent games like House of the Dead 4, not just Suda) but he's beginning to feel a bit more like Robert Rodriguez for me, and that's not a good thing. David Fincher is another close comparison, but at least Suda hasn't gotten boring yet.

I am pretty sure Suda had nothing to do with Sine Mora...

Please explain how he's anything like Fincher?!

For the love of all that is holy, I hope this game sells well for them.

The violent, explosive, well-received introduction (Seven, Killer7) followed by the string of cult classics (Fight Club/The Game, No More Heroes/Contact) before finally devolving into derivation and mediocrity, where they stand now. Benjamin Button is Forrest Gump backwards (it was written by the same guy, so that's not surprising) and Shadows of the Damned, while entertaining, doesn't really play any different than any other third-person shooter.

And of course, Platinum/Clover is Studio Ghibli.

Yeah, I don't see the Fincher comparison at all. Not only is your Fincher chronology wrong and missing stuff (Seven was not his debut, he had nothing to do with Contact, etc,), but his work is much more varied in subject matter and consistently strong. Suda's body of work, while in a different medium, isn't even close.

I was referring to the 2006 DS release, Contact, albeit Suda was involved in more of a production role for that game. I discounted both Suda and Fincher's early work because a) I haven't experienced it myself, b) it was largely done on pre-existing franchises, c) it's not exactly what they're known for, and in the case of Suda it didn't even make it stateside. Their careers follow the same bell curve. There are obviously loads of differences you can bring up, like the fact that no Fincher movie has failed to turn a profit.
