MLB 12 The Show - Meet-up Thread

Post by retrosportsgamer »

Testing the waters on any other RBers who would be interested in playing The Show this year. Thinking maybe a mini Racket Tourney with cool prizes out of my retro sports gift drawer (Who's ready for some World Series Baseball?)

If you are, post your PSN ID in here and i'll put something together. Learning towards a designated night to maybe all meet-up.

Is there cross platform pay with Vita? I could see playing this on the couch while I watch the Phils a lot this season...

I had someone else ask me that also and admittedly do not know. That is excellent Phillies multi-tasking though. Great idea.

hmm, apparently most retailers (including Amazon) will sell you the Vita version for $20 if you buy the PS3 version. I also have $30 credit on Amazon....

Hmmm...

EDIT: pulled the trigger----both games for $50 after discounts and credits was too good to pass up :)

anyone else pick this up for PS3 or Vita? I am working through Spring Training right now and trying to learn the ropes. I last played the show in 08 and this series is tougher than I remember! I quite like the cross-platform feature, though :D

RSG, have you taken this online yet?

No online yet, was gone last weekend so have only played a handful of times. I've heard its laggy (as usual with the series? or maybe because it's a new release?) but lets give it a whirl soon 8)

Have you played previous entries?

I've had to switch my batting style to "Timing" and my pitching style to "classic" to stay competitive. The default styles (pulse and that yellow blob thing) are just too distracting and make it much harder to get a good sense of what you are doing.

We should try to play a game later this week.

Anyone else pick up either version?

This is my first experience with The Show (outside of '11 on the PSP) as I was Xbox360 only for years until this past summer.

I also use Timing for hitting. The zone hitting is very much like the old World Series Baseball series setup. I like it as much as I did back then (not at all).

For pitching, i'm on classic also I think. Whichever one lets you click the power and then the swing back meter to determine accuracy/release point. I have no interest in using an analog stick or the move controller to pitch. Give me pitch selection , the ability to choose how hard I throw the ball, a release point meter and let me fire away :)

I'd like zone hitting if a) it just used a transparent circle with a thin white outline and b) it could be "locked" in place before the pitch.

I am using meterless pitching.

Hmm, not sure if guessing the pitch and location would help you get where you want there.

Our bigger issue when playing online is going to be around who gets to be the Phillies ;) (just kidding)
