A nice idea. I don't think we can get around dumpster diving through forums and blog posts in a lot of instances, but it's a nice ambition to have one place that's meant to hold all the solutions to every PC game's known issues:

I read about this on DToid. I hope this takes off and makes PC Gaming a bit more accessible.

Be careful what you wish for. Inaccessibility may be the reason retro PC gaming is so cheap.GSZX1337 wrote:I read about this on DToid. I hope this takes off and makes PC Gaming a bit more accessible.

The fact that you have to do anything to get older PC games to run (patches, DOSBox, etc.) will always keep retro PC gaming inaccessible to a large portion of the wider gaming community. Many people just aren't willing to invest the time to get their games up and running, even if they have a clear wiki page to follow. Hell, I am an avid retro gamer and I know my way around a PC pretty well, and even I will leave some of my old games untouched just so I don't have to go through the hassle.

I still have old PCs for their old software, but I've lost the patience to deal with even using a KVM switch to swap between systems.J T wrote:The fact that you have to do anything to get older PC games to run (patches, DOSBox, etc.) will always keep retro PC gaming inaccessible to a large portion of the wider gaming community. My scheduling skills have died of dysentery; I hope to visit at least on a monthly basis.
Still, don't forget to tip your waitress.

Sums up The Longest Journey to me. I refuse to play it in a 320x240 window or whatever, and absolutely do not want to play it deformed/stretched out... widescreen monitors completely kill this game. Guess that's a different subject somewhat, but yeah.J T wrote:The fact that you have to do anything to get older PC games to run (patches, DOSBox, etc.) will always keep retro PC gaming inaccessible to a large portion of the wider gaming community. Seems a good resource to me, it's true that the information, while not hard to find at all, it's disseminated and would benefit from a central hub.
Tough I think that just not even trying is the main problem here. Really, every time I hear that you have to spend 1000$ every month to keep up with PC gaming, a child dies.

I cant view the site, but is it for:

Personally, if it is a dosgame, I try to make it work through Dfend Reloaded. Windows games get all sorts of fun issues though. Yoda Stories took me weeks to finally get to work right.
