HD PVR not working with N64! Please Help!

So my Hauppauge HD PVR tends to have periods of well... screwing up. It's constantly having problems, which really annoys me considering it was 200 bucks and I bought it 6 months ago. Anyway, I tried recording my N64 today using the composite cables in the front of the HD PVR and I KNOW it is set up correctly because I have used this exact HD PVR to record the exact same N64 with the exact same hookups in the past, SO DONT TELL ME IT'S NOT HOOKED UP RIGHT! Anyway, excuse the anger, this situation is very annoying. So, the N64 displays perfectly fine on my HD TV, but when I open the recording software (Eye TV) and click record, it records for around 10-15 seconds, and then lags and finally crashes. It just completely stops recording. Note that every other one of my consoles, (except for my SNES which also used to work), works perfectly fine. I've tested my Wii and Xbox 360 on it and they both work fine, however they were connected through the component ports. Could it be a problem with the composite ports, and if so, is it fixable? DO NOT SUGGEST I JUST BUY A DAZZLE I DON'T HAVE ANY MONEY RIGHT NOW!
