Is Gamestop punching holes in the game covers?
Is Gamestop punching holes in the game covers?
They are punching a hole through the bar code of game covers. I went to two stores and most of their used games had holes in them.
Re: Is Gamestop punching holes in the game covers?
This usually indicates manufacturer overstock sold at a "loss" vs. standard retail price. I can't imagine why they'd be doing this to used games, however.

It is a common thing with music CDs when dumping old or overstock so they are sold at a discount and cannot be returned to a supplier. It could be happenning with games too. They'd better not be trying to sell them as new or at new prices though.

I don't think he missed that they were used. The punched holes are a measure against selling at new prices, which makes their employ on used games suspicious for that reason. He can correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that was the concern.GameMasterGuy wrote:They'd better not be trying to sell them as new or at new prices though.5charJC48573 wrote:used games had holes in them.

Yeah, I've done worse- like in the Together Retro thread, I thought we were going to play Bomberman 64, but it turned out to be Bomberman 94.

It looks like others have experienced this as well...CRTGAMER wrote:JC48573 wrote:They are punching a hole through the bar code of game covers. I hope it was a promo disc of sorts. I wonder if other Gamestops have this problem, it would seem more trouble to punch holes then slapping on a Gamestop barcode sticker.Jontendo wrote:It looks like others have experienced this as well...CRTGAMER wrote:JC48573 wrote:They are punching a hole through the bar code of game covers. 1. If a customer, then maybe an isolated buyback incident.
2. If an individual store, then not good, employees need to be reported.
3. If a Distribution Center, then Ooooh Crap. Let the complaint campaign begin!
