Europe, Canada, and USA game development is quite different

I do see a difference, so...is it time for us to redefine Western games? Well, "Western" is just too broad and I feel that many people feel a little insulted when we use that word to distinguish it from a Japanese game. What do you guys think?

I think generalizations like that get made for more than just the game industry. Beyond that, quite a few companies have studios in multiple countries, all pumping out similar enough games. Rockstar, for example, has studios in the US, Canada, EU, and Japan for that matter.

The thing I'd consider is more whether people know what you're talking about if you specify a "Western" game...and offhand I'd have to think they do. It's a lot like the film industry. Something could be filmed in England, or New Zealand, or Toronto...but if a major Hollywood studio is footing the bill, doing the distribution, etc, it gets seen as a Hollywood movie.
