Intellivision having issues on plamsa
Intellivision having issues on plamsa
I recently purchased a near mint Intellivision and was very excited to fire it up. However, when I hooked it up to my 55" plasma (which I also use to play my Colecovision, Atari 2600, and Odyssey 2), the screen began jumping up and down. The games were playable, but the screen looks terrible. To test the system, I hooked it up to an old-school CRT TV, and the system worked great, no screen jumping at all! Anyone have any ideas why my other 3 classic consoles work great on my TV, but not the Intellivision? Any help would be greatly appreciated...thanks!
Re: Intellivision having issues on plamsa
is there a channel 3/4 switch? maybe it's on the wrong channel on the system...
Re: Intellivision having issues on plamsa
There is a switch, but it is definitely on the right channel.

Do other things hooked up via RF work ok on the Plasma? Does yours have a cable/aerial setting? for the RF? Mine actually has separate RF connections for cable and RF.

I use the same cord for Colecovision and 2600, and they work flawlessly. I even tried a couple of different cords with the Intellivision, to no avail.

Hmm, maybe the output signal is just slightly off on the Int and the CRT is coping with it better. Maybe find a guide on adjusting the RF output and tweak it a little to see if it helps? Otherwise maybe pipe it through a VCR or DVD player before the TV will help?

Screenshot Pics, Make and Model number of you HD will help in troubleshooting
Plasma HDs are usually more forgiving to older consoles compared to LCDs and LEDs. Perhaps the Intellivision signal is causingh the HD's automatic screen adjustment feature to cause the screen jump? Make sure any Widescreen or Full stretch is turned off, might help.
Agree with Hobie, if you have a VCR, try hooking up the Intellivision RF and use the Composite outputs of the VCR to "translate" the signal. The HD might be fooled with the different signal.

Re: Intellivision having issues on plamsa
This should be tried with all ntsc/pal problems as well. I once got a pal ps1 working on ntsc tv just by connecting the scart connector trough an old pal vcr. It was very strange. I was desperate and tried it which didn't make any sense whatsoever, but it worked. when something doesn't work, just experiment, connect/mod until it does.CRTGAMER wrote:Agree with Hobie, if you have a VCR, try hooking up the Intellivision RF and use the Composite outputs of the VCR to "translate" the signal.
