Collecting Milestones
As of this week I'll be done buying consoles. 3DO and SwanCrystal are coming in the mail, and I'll get the 3DS on Sunday for XMas. I'll finally have all of what I consider the "essential" systems: I don't need a Neo Geo CD, CD-I, Jaguar, Collecovision, or whatever else, but I can always keep an eye open when I'm at flea markets.
Now I can strictly buy games. it's a good feeling!!!
(at least until the Vita comes out FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUU)

Re: Collecting Milestones
Nice work man!
I've hit one myself recently! I set out to find and collect all of the Capcom NES games and got them all knocked off the list! I've played about half of them all the way through and hopefully will get them all beaten by the end of next year maybe.
I've actually been working on my consoles as well. Just got a Dreamcast and have been on constant awareness to scope a deal on a TurboGrafx. There's quite a few others on the list as well, so it'll take a while!

Re: Collecting Milestones
This isn't strictly about video games, but I recently filled in a couple holes in my collection and now have every Sonic the Hedgehog comic Archie published from issue #0 of the mini-series, to the current issues. I've been reading since I was a little kid and found issue #9 and had a subscription for years. I stopped collecting after issue #100 (the series was in a bad place) but decided to re-start about four years ago.
And now I have it all! The mini-series of characters like Princess Sally and Tails! The Sonic X spin-off! The comic-con variant covers! I even own a few of the collected editions, for excess' sake.
(And there are technically two promo comics that were printed in the US before the series started, but those don't really count.)

Re: Collecting Milestones
What is this SwanCrystal? I'll openly admit, I'm not up to speed on stuff like the X'eye, etc.
Congrats on the 3DO purchase! I got a nice lot over the summer and have a large number of titles. I don't normally do backups but there are decent 3DO iso sites so you can get some of the rarer titles.

SwanCrystal is actually the last of the three WonderSwan varieties:retrosportsgamer wrote:What is this SwanCrystal? I'll openly admit, I'm not up to speed on stuff like the X'eye, etc.

I actually had no idea what it was either, I discovered it when I was looking for prices on WonderSwan Color handhelds, which is what I originally intended to buy.
I don't have any 3DO games. Does it play audio CDs? I want to be able to test the system.
Re: Collecting Milestones
Enjoy the SwanCrystal, great system. I actually play mine somewhat regularly. What games are you looking into?

Re: Collecting Milestones
So if I said it feels good to *finally* get the light gun for the Dreamcast, a replacement disc for Expendable, and to hunt down Confidential Mission and a PAL copy of Shenmue II for decent prices after years of searching, would that be considered "milestones"? Because in the course of one short month, it sure feels like it to me

Re: Collecting Milestones
My last milestone was getting Section Z with the rare hint map. Finally spending over $100 each on Zanac X Zanac and Harmful Park last year were big hundles for me. Was after those for along time and while I didn't really want to spend as much as I did on them, I got them for good prices instead of the $200 each they tend to hover near.
