Ok, so I just bought a wii earlier this week, and it stopped reading diskstoday. So, I juat git back with my replacement console.
I had purchased 2 vc games, and moved them to an SD card before returning the console. Now, I am unable to play these games from the SD, nor am I able to move them to the console.
So basically, I'm asking if there is a way to fix this, ir if I just wasted $20?
Thanks

The backup to SD will not work
You need it authenticated to the other Wii console from Nintendo. I read somewhere here you need to contact Nintendo to switch your Downloads to the other Wii.

Whats strange is, I don't recall making an account in the way I did fir xbox live.
Maybe I just give them my credit card info and they can see the purchase?
Thanks for the reply

Re: Question about wii vc data movement
Unfortunately, the way around this would have been to send the broken Wii to Nintendo. They would repair it or replace it while transferring your licenses. I doubt you have a way to get your VC purchases back now without rebuying them. Yes, it is quite primitive. Hence the absence of creating any sort of account. Out of sheer fanboyisim, I'm hoping they rectify this with Wii U (and include a VC transfer capability).

Damn, thats unfortunate. Having bought it at Gamestop, I had no warranty through Nintendo, so I would have probably paid more to ship/repair it than I lost in games.
Quite a silly way they handle their online indeed though.

Yup, this is why I actually DO advocate piracy on this specific console. I saw get the homebrew channel on your Wii and download whatever you want. Nintendo really screwed with their customers, and I am really not sure why gamers did not make a bigger deal over this.
As far as I know, the only way to get your games back is to send your (not even your anymore) broken console to Nintendo so THEY can transfer the VC games to a working system. F-that. Just get the homebrew channel and you'll be set to go.
Nintendo could have had a truly great thing going and the blew it.

This. Everyone with a Wii should have the homebrew channel. the Letterbomb should take you anywhere from 5-10 mins to get it set up. Then you can easily research the Wad Installer and re-download and install the games you already purchased. Plus, the Console Emulation is really greatBreetai wrote:Just get the homebrew channel and you'll be set to go.

Unless you want to emulate Air Zonk/PC Denjin on the TG-16/PCE. The graphics are messed up in it. Solution, just pirate the VC version of Air Zonk. Works fine that way!EllertMichael wrote:This. You also can't play Sega CD/32X games (although these aren't on the VC anyway). I have also found PCE CD games to be a pain to get working with emulation (again, they are easy if you use the VC versions). MAME is really not supported well (but some arcade games are on the VC, so get those). I found that emulating N64 and Neo Geo games is hit or miss for various reasons, but if you just use the homebrew channel to download the VC versions of these, they run flawlessly.
These issues are minor overall. The Wii is a very good emulation machine for most of the main consoles (NES, SNES, N64, SMS/GG, Genesis, Atari 2600-7200, Lynx, TG-16/PCE, C-64, MSX and others).
