I was wondering how you guys play games like Knights of the Old Republic, Fable, Back and White etc that have good and bad choices?
I realised that I would also play then as a "goody". No matter what the choice was I would always pick the noble/right/good choice. My reason for this was that I would in theory I would play through the game as a "goody" and get the good ending and then I would go back and do the game again but with bad/evil choices. This way I would get to see what the whole game had to offer.
Of course I never did go back to complete a game a 2nd evil time. So for me I've pretty much never gone with my gut feelings or mood about choices in these games. Kind of regret that now. Feels like I've missed out!
I have on occasion loaded a previous save game just see what the other choice would do i.e. some parts in KOTOR. But that's about it.
What about you guys? I'm interested how other people play these games and make those choices.
How do you play games with good and bad choices?

Games like KOTOR and Fable, I went good first, then bad on the 2nd playthrough. The first time through, I want to really "role-play" and I consider myself a very goody goody boy, aside from my mouth, so I just fly with that. I then start over and be bad to simply see what I missed.
On the other hand, the evil routes are often easier and more forgiving to a newbie player, whereas the good routes are often full of chores and require better understanding of the game to be totally successful in.

Wasnt the dark ending so much better though? I was surprised. The light ending just seemed...well light...in terms of content.arion wrote:i chose the dark side ending for kotor..cus you never see the dark side win in any of the moviesor they do win only to get theyr ass kicked by ewoks

You know with KOTOR and Jade Empire, they did such a good job of playing up the guilt that I always was good on my first playthrough. I wasn't even going to go through KOTOR again as evil but I heard about some such juicy dark side stuff that I had to see for myself. Bastila was actually really fun as an evil character and the evil robot was hilarious.
I never actually played through KOTOR 2 or Jade Empire as an evil character. I just never got around to it. You know with games like Grand Theft Auto out there it's almost like being an evil character isn't special anymore, so I usually role play the good guy. At least on a first playthrough
One thing people don't often talk about in these games is the courtship. For any of you who played KOTOR 2 and Jade Empire, which girls did you go after? I picked the ninja princess in Jade Empire and the warrior maiden in KOTOR 2.

As for KOTOR and Fable, I absolutely relish the chance as playing as some badass!!
Where's the fun in being good? You do it in ever other damn game not to mention that you have to keep polite in real life so I really let myself go in these kind of games.
It often pays off to be good as you loose peoples trust and "goodies" will attack you, but on the other hand you can loot the corpses of the innocent and look so evil in the process!!
....Mwahahahaha!!

The first time I plated Black and White I really tried to be good, and I thought that I was being until my temple grew horns. Maybe teaching my creature to hurl the enemy villagers into the sea wasnt such a nice thing to do. I played it agian but the level where your creature is a prisoner of the bad guy just proved to time consuming to convert the faraway villages by 'being nice'
I'm glad that I'm not the only one who chooses to be good only for the first playthrough.Mozgus wrote:Games like KOTOR and Fable, I went good first, then bad on the 2nd playthrough. With the next game with moral choices (Mass Effect for me) I'm going to just go with my gut feelings with everything. I guess it will be interesting to see whether the game deems me to be evil

It really depends on the style of the game. In mostly linear games I usually go good first and if the story was captivating enough for me Ill play it again for evil (ie Jedi Knight). In more open ended games my characters usually end up evil just because of those stupid officers who think me killing a shop keep is a crime, let alone all of Vvardenfall...

In BioShock the major choice is whether to "harvest" or kill the little girls. I go for the kill. I let a couple of them go and then realized I have no clue what's going to happen one way or the other, so I'm going for what will give me a better upgrade (killing). So, bad all the way, for this game anyway.
