Is it worth it to collect for the Neo Geo CD and TurboDuo?
Hello. What are your opinions of the Neo Geo CD and TurboDuo. I originally had a Neo Geo AES but was forced to sell it because of money concerns. Is the Neo Geo CD worth buying, I am not bothered by load times and I really do like SNK's style of games, what are they worth. Also how about the TurboDuo? Thanks for your time.

Sure, if you don't mind buying all your games online?ATARI800XLfan wrote:Hello. What are your opinions of the Neo Geo CD and TurboDuo. I don't think I've even seen a Turbo CD game in the wild. They're extremely rare in my area
I saw a Turboduo for sale at a specialty shop once but they wanted $600 for it, and I was all -->

Yeah it is but like the person above me said you will be buying all your games online unless you have a retro store in your area then keep an eye on it because I once saw a completely boxed Master System so you never know just keep an eye out

Turbo CDs aren't region locked and a Japanese PC Engine Duo is much cheaper than an American Turbo Duo. Only downside is, you can't play American HuCards on a Japanese system.
Here's the setup I have:
American TurboGrafx-16 ($60): for American HuCards
Japanese PC Engine Duo ($200): for Japanese HuCards and Japanese & American CD games
As for the Neo Geo stuff, the Neo Geo CD is inferior to the AES (in my opinion), but you will find that CD games are much cheaper compared to their AES counterparts. With the CD system, you will have to deal with lengthy load times.
There are other people on this site who know a lot more about the NEC and SNK consoles than I do.
And yes, be prepared to buy everything online.

If you get a Neo Geo CD, get a Neo Geo CDZ. It has the fastest loading times of all the CD systems...and it looks the sexiest.
I just happen to be selling one.

I do not mind buying the games online. Does the CDZ have any overheating problems, how much would you want for it, do you have any pictures? What are some must own games for the system, it is worth it to buy Pulstar or should I wait on it and get some other games first?hashiriya1 wrote:If you get a Neo Geo CD, get a Neo Geo CDZ. I buy Turbo/PCE/CD games all the time. I find the Japanese versions to be incredibly affordable if they are not too dependent on understanding the language. Actually, all of the Action games I have bought so far were entirely in English so that hasn't affected me at all except for RPGs, Detective games, and whatnot.
Western TurboGrafx/CD games are generally more expensive than the usual retro title, but not much more than popular N64 and SNES games really. So far I have managed to buy most of what I want for less than $20, some of what I want for less than $40, and only one or two games have gone over that.
Worth collecting for me is whether I want to play it for the price.

I found a U.S. Turbo CD game in the wild for the first time about a month ago. Magical Dinosaur Tour mixed in with a bunch of CDsWeekend_Warrior wrote:Sure, if you don't mind buying all your games online?ATARI800XLfan wrote:Hello.
