The folks over at 1UP a nicely done cover story on the Panzer Dragoon Series.

Thought some people might like to read it.
Edit: Hmm, Post is alittle small so I'll expand it.
There area alot of interviews with the Man who created the Panzer Dragoon games (save for Orta). Alot of intresting bits in there about the development.
Its wierd seeing people say that Orta was a betrayal of the series. It happened to be the first Panzer game I played (because I was a big fan of JGR, JSRF, and Gunvalkyrie) and really got me into the other three games.

From what I can read at panzer dragoon fan site forums... The main complaints they have is that the Producer of the original games intended to end the story with Saga. They didnt feel the story or art was up to par with smilebit answering questions that were left unanswered (by the orginal producers intention). Personaly I thought Smilebit did a great job. (of course they never really did anything wrong in my eyes)
Not sure what the tie-in with Phantom Dust was....

I don't understand this. If you're going to emulate it you don't need the source, you only need a good Saturn emulator. I can understand why Sega would not want to code this. If you're going to make a port you start over from scratch. None of the source or assets from the Saturn version are going to work on, say, a 360. So why does the loss of the source code matter? I think the real reason Sega doesn't want to remake the game is the fear that it won't sell much better than the original. Of course all of us here go nuts for it, but how often do you, reading this, find yourself matching gaming trends?

It's easier to emulate a game, then a console. Instead of having to emulate every little part of the console. You can alter the source around and strip down what ever transcoding method your going to do. But the outcome only works for that particular game. Thirdly you can update a lot of the stuff easier.Perseid wrote:I don't understand this. If you're going to emulate it you don't need the source, you only need a good Saturn emulator. But overall, yeah, it would be just as useful to make a saturn emulator... mainly because you can reuse the saturn emulator for other games. But we've all seen what happens in that area. Yet to be a fully functioning one that doesn't eat up every system resource of a PC.
