That's not even a box. It's a simple cable. You can not use this to convert a signal.

This is made for things that carry a component signal over vga.

No, you cannot. That's what I was trying to explain. You need something that converts the VGA signal from your Dreamcast to component. Look for a VGA to component converter...

This cable would've been good had the Dreamcast put out a component signal over the VGA cable / box. Which is not the case. So this cable is no good for you.

okay then, ive just heard that many TVs wont accept VGA from a DC bc of the refresh rate, though this would fix that.

This shouldn't be much of an issue unless your opting to get a huge TV like 60 inch or some shit! Definately ain't an issue if you goin plasma. My DC is directly hooked up VGA on my 26 inch Vizio LED TV and it looks so fuck'n good! VGA connected my DC to my Bro and Cousin 32 inch TV's and is all good. Even to an LG LED backlit 46 inch TV.

And yes your solution will compensate for a TV that won't accept DC direct through VGA, but I'm certain at the cost degraded video image.

Before you get a tv take the dc to the shop to test it. And please test it with a 60 Frames per second game. I recommend: Zero Gunner 2!
I once had 50" Sony lcd backlit tv (not flat but this tv had a huge back)
And while the image looked gorgeous with VGA. 60 Fps somehow was too fast for the tv. So be sure to test with that game. You´ll notice frame drops immediatly, probably because of the slow smooth scrolling of the levels!
Get a tv with VGA input
Optimizing PS2 games 480p (progressive) and 240p gsm hdtv
