Tokyo Xtreme Racer 2 *Retail* USA (Dreamcast) Save freezing.

Post by adamwoje »

Hey guys!

I just bought this game and the disc is nearly perfect. Every time I try to save after racing, it freezes on me. Is this normal?

Thanks!

Is your VMU working properly with any other games, or if you only have that one, can you browse the VMU without it locking up?

Yep! The VMU works great and never had a problem with it...I can access all the files in the main DC menu too...

This is a known issue with the bootleg of this game... if you have an original TXR2 GDrom then is quite a dilema indeed. I have actually been playing the game quite modestly and have yet to experience this issue my self. How far have you progressed in the game?

I only progressed to the second day...

I have another copy of the game where I cannot get to the first stage but everything else works. This time I took out my rumble pack (performance brand). The save feature worked perfectly! Tried it on my good copy of the game, worked perfectly too.

I guess the rumble pack is faulty...I had it since Dreamcast was new and it works on every game I've had. I guess since I wasn't saving the file to there I thought it wasn't a variable.

Thanks for your help guys! :D

Sucks the rumble is toast, but that's the least important piece so the best thing to be broken I suppose.

His Jump pack is fine. It seems that this "Performance" brand Jump Pack is interfering with data saving between TXR2 game and the VMU. There may be perhaps other titles which may have this issue when non Sega brand Jump packs are used in conjunction with the VMU. This is perhaps one of many reasons why console manufactures seldom recommend 3rd party peripherals. lol! I may try this issue out as i too have this particular brand accesssory. So it seems you may opt for a Sega brand Jump pack or play the game without it. From personal experience i hate using the "Performance" pack particularly for this game. The vibration feedback back is really, really heavy and unrealistic. When your simply cruising the highway the vibration is that of a heartbeat, while using the Official pack give this very realistic jolt as if your feeling the traction between your vehicles tires with the road as you drive, so i'd recommend the latter. I'm currently over 80 days in the game with a near 200 Rivals. the game quite fun and dare i say ADDICTING! Not to mention its perhaps the most beautiful racer on the DC, looking even better than LeMans IMO (especially in VGA).
