graffiti remover or solder resen remover on snes carts

Has anyone tried graffiti remover or solder resen remover to get markers off snes carts?

I do know most people recommend goo gone, just wondering if these other methods are safe and effective.

I have found the best way to remove marks that doesnt involve any harsh chemicals, Just go to the store and get those "Mr. Clean Magic Erasers" It has taken off any kind of marker that has been unfortunate enough to find its self on my carts. It doesnt damage the cart at all and is very quick at taking off the marker.

I learned the hard way about trying chemicals when one kind of melted the cart.

Just remember that it works so well because it's a mild abrasive. If you're not careful or the marker is old enough you can easily scrub off any texture on the cart's surface. Of course I'd rather have a random smooth spot on a cart rather than some kid's name, just something to consider.

Alcohol and electrical contact cleaner are used to remove solder flux and will remove most marker from the plastic shell of carts, so it might be ok. If it is safe for the plastic on chips and connectors that also indicates might be fine on carts. However you might need to be really careful near labels. I'd test on something you don't care as much about first.

I have never had to do much more than 1 or 2 swipes to get the marker gone, and cant see it smoothing out the texture from the little effort needed.

Hmmm never knew the magic eraser was that good. On my Gameboy Color mods I use Goo Gone, Prep Solvent (The brand I use is Prep All from a local autoshop), and Dawn dish soap (It can clean up greasy penguins yo )
