Gears of War 3 "Season Pass"

Post by Rocketman »

Priced at 2400 Microsoft points, the pass gives holders access to the first four pieces of DLC content, starting in November and continuing throughout the next year. The pass represents a 33 percent savings versus buying each DLC add-on individually.

This sort of ruins the game for me. DLC for a game that hasn't even been released yet. I guess next gen I'll pay an extra $50 so I can play through the latest AAA game without having to watch any adds.
I thought what I'd do was, I'd pretend I was one of those deaf-mutes.

You will still have the full game experience without it. Dlc is just like mini addons. It is extra optional content. And there is an expectation that there would be some form of DLC, so this is no surprise. I like having extra optional stuff. Sometimes I get it, many of times I don't...

Knowing EPIC studios, at least 2 of those are map packs, but most likely all of them.
Systems: Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, N64, Gamecube, Xbox 360

WTB: Boxes for a silver Gamecube System(and a hyperport cover), and a box for an Ice Blue N64 console. Will pay 7.50 for each and shipping.

Unfortunately, it actually looks like things are going that way. *sigh*

Yeah, they probably are. It would be just splendid if they could package the game with these maps instead of charging extra for them later. :(

The video game industry continues to get worse. Why? Corporate greed, but also because we let them get away with it. Unless we stop supporting their bullshit, they will continue to fuck us deeper and deeper with each new game.

Well, they do need to make enough money to finance development as games become both more expensive to make and relatively less expensive to buy (if you account for inflation). Add to that the push from major retailers for preowned games that the studios don't see money from, and you can at least understand why they'd go that route.

I personally don't care for it either, but I have a hard time faulting a company for staying in the black.

If you love the game you will easily pay for DLC and discount on the DLC. Is it really a discount? Notice that we have no idea how much the DLCs will cost. I think it would just be cheaper to buy them full price if they are $15 each. I'm not going to pre-order DLC that does not exist yet...

Where did you read this? In GoW 2 you got the chance to be sneaky instead of guns blazing. It did not add much to the story but it was a cool side mission. Why would Epic make a DLC mandatory to finish the game. I know some students I go to school with that don't have Xbox live. How would they finish the story since they don't have Live? If it's true, it is a terrible move on Epic's behalf.

Personally, I thought the sneaky scene was better left out, seeing as it didn't make sense to me seeing that Dom was mad at the time, etc. Anyways, I didn't feel anything was missing first play through, and it didn't bother me.

No one makes you buy it. It is all optional and extra content. I like it as it gives me extra for games I love. It is the same as expansion packs... old games, the game was over and that was it. Now you can get more if you want.
