Apparently I like inverted cameras.

Post by noiseredux »

I had never thought about camera controls to the extent of what was deemed normal and what was inverted. But when setting the cameras to how I like them in No More Heroes tonight, I realized I'm only comfortable with inverted ones. Just me?

that's where up is down and down is up, right? I always seem to have trouble with that when I start a game. Or just inverted controls in general.

Like in Viewtiful Joe, which I'm playing now, to do an uppercut you need to press down and punch. But I was pressing up and punch for a good 5 mins trying to figure out why I was doing just a normal punch. I mean technically down and punch makes sense - but my brain thinks "uppercut" and wants to press up.

Sorry that's not exactly inverted camera problems, but I felt it was tangentially related. My brain just takes stuff literally I guess.

that's the thing -- I don't THINK about the inverted camera. My hands just naturally assume that pushing the analog stick that way will result in the camera going this way.

Only when Goldeneye was the only FPS game I was playing. I no longer use inverted. Nope...sorry. Not for me.

I've found I can play with either one. There's just an awkward adjustment period I have to go through if I'm playing a game with a different setting than the last one I've played. I adjust quick though. It's like overriding an old program in my brain

Noise, its become clear to me that we can't hang out anymore. What happened man? You used to be cool...

Anyway, from what I've seen, people's preference on this seems to be split right down the middle.

As for me, I can deal with inverted and get used to it if its the only option, but I much prefer standard.

What fucks me up worse is turning the camera side to side. Which is to say, is left left, or is left right? Some games are different, and while I can get used to it, it screws with my head for a while.

If I'm playing a FPS (rare these days) I have to invert the Y-axis. It will be completely unplayable if I don't. I'm sure I prefer inverted Y-axis in some other genres too.

Always inverted. I think it's because I used to play joystick games on the PC. Only seems natural. Push forward is down. Pull back is up.

I like inverted controls too. Just seems right somehow.
