Advise for restoring NES

Recently I used iospropyl alcohol to clean my NES and noticed red streaks after moving over the logo on the front of the NES! Crap! I just wiped off my logo. Lucky I noticed before it was all gone.
Does anyone have experience painting the NES and restoring it to its original state? Paints, colors, 1:1 stencil, etc.
I've cleaned other old consoles with alcohol without any issue. I am really upset that Nintendo used a cheap paint job, but I guess it was there first console

I wouldn't think alcohol would do that. I cleaned my NES with stuff like that, and nothing ever happened.
You could just leave the logo off, and pretend it's a limited edition or a custom job. Yeah, I'm lazy like that.

Oh crap! Maybe practice some stencils and painting on scrap plastic, say a DVD case stripped of the cover protector? There are some Vinyl Dye type of paints that might work better, check for how it runs and sticks.
After practice and committed to repainting the logo, some Lift Off or Goo Gone is more aggressive, should be able to remove the reset of the logo.

You could always take it to a local paint shop that does custom orders. They could easily whip up a nice stencil for you and make the logo look brand new. At a local retro game store I go to the owner restores consoles. He cleans his console's casing with Prep Solvent. It removes wax and grease. I have never tried it myself but he has the best looking retro consoles around.

I thought I might be able to trace over certain letters with tape and then possibly create a stencil from those. I am really curious about paint or other alternatives people have used for replacing the logo.
Prep Solvent...I'll look into that.
Also does anyone know how to hide or resize the images you post in the forum. I realize my first post might be obnoxious to some if the browser window is not maximized.

Do you have photoshop on your computer or anything that can edit photos? If so just resize them in there, and then re-upload them.

The source photo has to be the correct size. Just reduce to 725 wide to make it easier to read your post. You can use
iPhoto in the Mac or download freeware
Infraview for the PC.
A sales booth at the MallAnother inexpensive option is a custom vinyl sticker. The kind used in the back of car windows.

Alcohol and other cleaning solvents have never done that to my NES
Where did you get that NES? Was it used? I've seen some places online selling reproduction NES dust gates complete with the stenciled logo. If your NES was used, perhaps someone used one of these replacements--hence the cheap dissolvable paint? Or if not, maybe you could use one of these replacement doors until you find a better solution.

I think your best option is going to be just scrub the rest off so it doesn't look all weird with the gaps or get hold of a donor flap from a dead system and swap it out. Or maybe you can clean the rest off and put a Nintendo sticker on instead. In order to get something painted that looks even remotely halfway decent will cost more than it would to just get another system or will take a lot of effort.
Looks like there are plenty of replacements on ebay. Maybe the paint is cheap and yours has already been replaced?
