Game Boy Color, back from the dead

Post by xan_racketBOY_fan »

Going through my folks place, I came across my collection of Game Boys. The Color (fave out of the bunch) was in pretty bad shape. So I picked up a new housing for it (only $3.90) and in five minutes, she's like new again. Now time to play some Link's Awakening :D

Sweet! I loved Link's Awakening as a kid. I spent sooo many hours playing the Gameboy Color back then...

I should really do this... I've got a few gameboys lying around the house that are definitely in need of a cosmetic fix.

Where did you pick up your new housing?

Awesome! That's so cool when something like that happens. A few years back, my mom went to her storage shed and cleaned it out. She came to my apartment with a bunch of old action figures (Spider-Man, X-Men, Iron Man, etc.) and comic book trading cards (90s Spider-Man, X-Men, Marvel, DC Comics, Star Trek: TNG) still in the binder pages from my childhood. It was awesome going through all that stuff again. I have a lot of the action figures standing on top of my shelf that holds my Saturn, PS1, Dreamcast, PS2, Gamecube, & XBox games.

While we're on the subject of Gameboy Color, though, as great as the added color was (and long overdue by the time if finally happened), were there all that many great games made specifically for the Gameboy Color? Because personally, I don't own that many. I own a lot more original Game Boy and Gameboy Advance games. The ones I can think of worth owning:

-Bionic Commando: Elite Forces
-Mega Man Xtreme
-Super Mario Deluxe
-The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX
-The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages
-The Legend of Zelda: Oracles of Seasons
-Tetrix DX (which personally I don't need because I own the original Gameboy Tetris already)

And Zelda dominates my list. Not much variety there. What stuff am I missing that everyone else knows about? Are there are lot of JRPGs? Because I really don't play those, like at all unless there's twist to em like Legend of Legaia's unique battle-system.

I have about 16 myself, but there were apparently plenty including both the black carts that were GB and GBC compatible:

R-Type DX, Project S-11, and Dexter's Laboratory Robot Rampage are pretty cool games that don't fall into RPG, sports, or shovelware categories.

Nice blog btw, BRIK - I didn't know someone had a complete collection of NES games up for auction at a whopping $75,000!

I've been trying to come up with some recently myself:
Metal Gear Solid
Dragon Warrior III
Tomb Raider
Survival Kids
Pokemon Trading Card Game
Blaster Master: Enemy Below
