Soilders of Fortune

Post by dirtyballs69 »

back when i first got a Sega Genesis, i went to my local funcoland and picked out a game. one that wasnt too expensive. something that caught my eye. i only knew about sonic the hedge hog and i couldnt seem to find that, so i purchased this. i got home and threw it in and to my surprise it was an awesome game. it sounded like shit. but later i found out that it was just my console, cause all my sega games sounded like shit. and looked like shit…. still dont get it but for years and years and years i thought, i knew, that this was the best sega game i had ever played. until tonight i now know why. and its because it was a multi platform release. it explains why its a good game. it saddens me that sega almost had me on atleast one game. but whatever the fuck this game is fucking great.

especially now! i have a genesis generation 2 that has sound and you can see clearly. its really exciting to hear the music and fx and to be able to read the shit thats on the screen.

so it originally came out in england or some where over there. it was called “The Chaos Engine.” i dunno why they changed the name but whatever. theres 6 characters to choose from. each with their own weapons abilities strengths and weaknesses. as you go through the game you earn money ( mostly in the shape of cheerios) and you can upgrade your weapons, stats, what have yas.

you just run around shooting shit and getting money and finding power ups and shooting shit. as my friend brian roxworthy would say “this game is right in my wheel house.”

and it is . it so is. its a great game. it gets a lil difficult but theres passwords after every few stages you can type in and return to kicking ass. if your not playing with a friend the computer plays with you. its just a solid all around good game.

I came into this topic expecting to read a review for the Dreamcast game of the same name. I've never heard of this one before.

The what now? This is the only game I know. It also goes by "CHAOS ENGINE." Was released on the SNES as well. Great 2P-S game, even if you're in 1P mode; the AI will control your partner.

I believe this was based on an old AMIGA game. Or was this a remake? Basically: Gauntlet. Forced 2P-S. Guns. What more do you need?
