I still haven't delved into the GameCube library so I can't give you much advice other than to look into the GBA Player if you like Game Boy games and tell you to make sure to check out the site's guides.

Look at the "obvious choices" listings in the undiscovered games article to get a sense of the best-known/most acclaimed games for the system.

Only one I can think of offhand that I didn't see on the list is the Zelda Collector's Edition game that was bundled with my cube. It's both NES games and both N64 games on one disc along with a short retrospective video and a Wind Waker demo. Picked it up even though I had played them all just because it's really nice to have 4 games I love on one nice disk. There's also the Ocarina of Time remake for GameCube which has Master Quest added.

Oh man, I love threads like this. I'll take any chance I can possibly get to espouse the virtues of the Cube.

Obviously the Nintendo products are top notch - and not just the obvious stuff like the mainline Mario and Zelda titles. Nintendo had something of a quiet renaissance during the GCN years and made some wacky winners like Donkey Kong Jungle Beat, Zelda: Four Sword Adventures, Luigi's Mansion, Warioworld, Kirby Air Ride, Mario Soccer, Pikmin, and Animal Crossing. Any one of those games is guaranteed to waste many an afternoon spinning happily in your cube of joy.

Outside of Nintendo's stuff, there are some real 3rd party gems. Sega was a big supporter of the GCN with a lot of awesome Dreamcast ports and a couple of nifty exclusives like Beach Spikers and Phantasy Star Online III.

Capcom was kinda (sorta) an ardent though-nefarious Gamecube supporter. The Gamecube has the largest Resident Evil library of any console. PN03 is a real sleeper that will will satisfy any shooter or shmup fan and Megaman Network Transmission is a really fun and challenging side scroller.

And I could go on but I want to avoid the wall of text. I think you'll find the Gamecube was seriously underrated.

I second Zelda Four Sword Adventure. That game is amazing. It's basically like a more linear LTTP (at least in appearance) and relies heavily on puzzle solving using the "four links" gimmick. Don't let the 4-player thing scare you away. It's actually a lot of fun taken as a single player quest.

I also second Beach Spikers. I'm actually a really big fan of arcade style beach volleyball games. This one is excellent, and looks absolutely stunning if you happen to own GCN component cables.

PN03 is also brilliant and its soundtrack rules.

Yeah, it's amazing how good Beach Spikers looks considering it's an arcade port. I think it might be one of those rare 'better than arcade' translations.
