I had one for a very short period of time back in like 95 or 96, I just remember it was when I lived in the ghetto up in Connecticut.
Anyways, got stolen (e.g. the ghetto)... surprisingly there was another kid in the complex who owned one as well... that bastard stole my copy of Earthworm Jim 2 for the Genesis.
meh, I got another copy for the Saturn though a couple years later.

A good friend of mine got one at launch. He was so jazzed about it, talking about how great it was going to be. I saw the previews for the games and everything outside of Alien vs Predator looked like total ass. I kept telling him not to get one and warning him it would tank, but he was convinced. Then I turned out to be right. Of course, I bought a 3DO so I couldn't say too much.
It's funny but with all the talk lately about Space Giraffe and Jeff Minter, I've been wanting to dig up a copy of Tempest 2000 and play it. My friend had it, but I think it's safe to say we didn't truly appreciate it at the time.
Atari (or whoever owns the rights now) should have released T2K on Live Arcade this summer ahead of SG, kind of like Nintendo did with Metroid and Super Metroid ahead of MP3.

Well since I'm into collecting got one about two years ago, always saw them on magazines when they were released but to me it was kind of a myth. Never saw a 3DO, Cd-i or Jaguar on action until now (yeah I got those too!!) but I have to say if you're not collecting stay away from the Jaguar!
The games suck real bad (Wanna play "Kasumi Ninja" or "White men can't jump"?), except for maybe Tempest and Nba Jam. Graphically you won't see a mayor improvement from say a genesis or snes. Controls are kinda akward. I think it would have been a disappointment if you bought one, or maybe you would have defended it 'till death cause you bought it and couldn't admit it was so bad. But $300 wasn't that expensive and it was better than the $700 for a 3DO if you had the money, which I didn't.
The CD-unit is kinda hard to find but haven't seen or investigated for that matter the improvements in graphics or games that came out in CD format. Don't get me wrong cause I do love mine: I laugh for hours everytime I try to play those horrible games.

I wanted one because that Alien vs Predator game looked so 'rad' at the time. I always wondered why it had so many buttons (but now I see most "next gen" systems all have a crapload of buttons). Anyways, I wish I owned one, and will probably break down and get one off eBay if I had the extra cash (after I get a CDX)
