Just curious, I see some used ones on Amazon for a good $10 or so and that seems worth it for sure. Does it come with cables or anything else I should know about though? Definitely think I might order one soon.
I don't have an actual GBA, but using the Gamecube controller sounds just fine to me. I see a lot of the used ones are missing some "Startup Disc" though, what's that for?
Gamecube GB player, anything I should know?
Re: Gamecube GB player, anything I should know?
There are no cables, the unit just plugs nicely into the bottom of your gamecube.
However, don't buy one without the startup disc. If you don't have the disc, the GBP serves no purpose other than to make your gamecube taller.
The disc serves as a boot disc for your gba games. Without it, you can't play games.

That's definitely good to know, lol. Are the startup discs sold cheap by themselves or something? Kind of funny to see so many of these players being sold without them.

yeah, I second what Ranma says!
I think nintendo still sells the start-up disc on their website.
That or keep looking for the disc. It comes in its own distinctive clearish case.

I also highly recommend upping your cables from Composite, S-video (or Component (read: $$$ or RGB) makes a massive difference on the GBP, it looks amazing video s-video, but quite washed out via composite.

You know its odd to me how many people apparently lost their discs.
The damn things came packaged with the Player, and the Player doesn't work without them. Why on earth wouldn't a person keep track of the disc?

I bet a lot of people took poor care of them and then threw them out because a) they were really scratched, and b) they moved on to the next generation of consoles.CFFJR wrote:You know its odd to me how many people apparently lost their discs.

I also imagine when people sell them to pawn shops, etc, they separate them when selling.
Re: Gamecube GB player, anything I should know?
My local GameStop has had a half dozen or so GB players (with start up discs) for a while now. I was in there the other day and noticed they still have them, but for only $10 now.
Re: Gamecube GB player, anything I should know?
Know what you mean, I dont know why it is so difficult to put the game back in the original case! Look at all the used games in Gamestop that are traded in without a manual or case. Then go to a Japanese Retro store and be amazed how many games are complete, a different mentality in Japan.CFFJR wrote:You know its odd to me how many people apparently lost their discs.
