Sega Saturn CD Format Question

Post by nwalt36 »

For playing games on the actual Saturn, can CDI files work for game backups (similar to Dreamcast)? If not, is there a way to convert a cdi into a bin + cue for the Saturn to work with.

Did you find a CDI of a saturn game or are you asking if that format is used to copy games? no it shouldn't be used.
Ziggy587 wrote:The purpose of this tutorial is to show you how to burn game images to CD/DVD. This tutorial will break it down to image format rather than console specific. Why? Because burning a BIN/CUE (for example) is exactly the same whether it be for a Saturn, Sega CD, or NeoGeo CD game.

If you find any broken links in the guide, please let me know by posting about it in this thread!

Why only legally free software? The reason why this guide uses only free software is to make it easier for the end user. I've read many guides that tell you to use expensive software just assuming that you'll download a cracked version. Many of us do not wish to pirate software. Others don't want to be bothered with the hassle and risk of downloading cracked software.

"Yeah, but you can use demo/trail versions!" Most demo and trial software is just a waste of time. Unless there is an unlimited evaluation period and there aren't any removed features that you would need, they're not worth using. Especially since there is FREE software available that is just as good if not better.

So instead of having to - take the time to find cracked software, worrying about if you can trust it, having to scan it after you download it, and then cross your fingers when you're installing it that there isn't a trojan that your virus scan didn't pick up, then possibly having to do just about the same thing for your keygen or crack - you can just simply following the links I've provided for the free software. Download it and install it right away, no worries.

It would work for making personal backups, but there's no reason to use it. Furthermore, it would be a pain in the behind for everyone else if you're planning to share those backups. As long as it retains all of the data, any format is fine for your own personal use.
