Nintendo A/V splitter
Nintendo A/V splitter
do these exist? basically i want to know if there's a way i can have a cable running into the back of my super nes, n64 and gamecube that all lead to 1 set of composite inputs. not enough inputs on my tv, not enough room for a splitter and i hate switching the cord out. just curious.

Madcatz made something like that once, except that it had a plug for GCN, Xbox, Xbox 360, and PS2 leading to one input. I have this cord; it's great. I'm thinking since they made this, there's probably something like what you're looking for out there.aaron wrote:do these exist? basically i want to know if there's a way i can have a cable running into the back of my super nes, n64 and gamecube that all lead to 1 set of composite inputs. not enough inputs on my tv, not enough room for a splitter and i hate switching the cord out. just curious.

Re: Nintendo A/V splitter
I have something similar to what you are looking for but it's for RF. it connects n64/snes, ps1, genesis/32x/SCD and Sega Saturn. MadCatz made it and well, i don't use it because it sucks. i actually joined this forum after I bought a Saturn modchip and was having video problems. turns out it was due to this crappy RF adapter, not the modchip. (now i use s-video and everything looks great!)
but even with this multi-cable, i still had to swap it between consoles because each adapter is only 6 inches long and all convene in a unit that feeds out one wire to the RF box. so finding a multi-cable shouldn't be too difficult, but avoiding having to swap it between consoles will be the tricky part

Re: Nintendo A/V splitter
If you were using RF cables there'd be no need for a multi-cable on that, just daisy chain them. That's the magic of RF.
But since you're using decent AV cables, I'm not aware of anything that's cross generational like you described. How do you not have enough room for a splitter? It's a small box, and if you go manual it doesn't even take up a plug:

I snagged a few of these when I was getting s-video cables for my systems.

Re: Nintendo A/V splitter
As others pointed out, a simple switch box. Don't use Y-Cables, that will cause a signal drop. SVideo will give a better signal, all three of the Nintendos use the exact same cable. For SVideo definitely get a switch box, the connectors pins are fragile. There is also the expensive Component Cable for the Gamecube.aaron wrote:do these exist? basically i want to know if there's a way i can have a cable running into the back of my super nes, n64 and gamecube that all lead to 1 set of composite inputs. not enough inputs on my tv, not enough room for a splitter and i hate switching the cord out. just curious.
