Sega Saturn Cart switches

anybody know what the switches on the carts do or what they are for?

I'm fairly sure that it's because early third party ram carts had to change between 1M and 4M expansion for some games that would throw a fit if they had the wrong ram. Later carts (action replay) either fixed this or switch it automatically.

the switches i see are on 1st party sega branded ones, take a look at the pictures.

What was said about the switch might still make sense though. Take a look at this one:

As I pointed out in comment for this picture above the writing in Japanese there is pen that says "1M -> 4M 램팩" The Korean there just says "Ram Pack" Maybe the arrow denotes the purpose of the switch

Also, unlike the blue cartridge (which explicitly says SEGA on the back), this one doesn't have any Sega markings, although the label design seems familiar to most people.

the ram carts by sega are 1m or 4m, if this isn't a sega one it may be a switching ram cart, though the only one i've ever seen was a AR 5 in 1.
