Is it a huge deal to you guys? I mean, I recently just bought about 20 GBA games for like 60 bucks(so much because the final fantasy advances were in there) And it doesn't really bother me that there's no boxes, same with my SNES stuff. Should it? I mean I don't collect for resale value, I collect so that no matter how far down the line I will have the games I like readily available to play...and also to show my kids what I played as a kid.
I mean for example, I'm looking at FFIII for SNES right? It's like 30-40 for the cart. but you include the box and it immediately shoots up to like 150. Do you guys find the additional 100 bucks worth it?
Boxes with your carts.
Re: Boxes with your carts.
Honestly the novelty of them doesn't do much for me anymore. I found Actraiser complete with everything for real cheap so I picked that up once, but beyond that I only have a few SNES and N64 games that I've managed to keep along with the boxes. Growing up I moved around a lot and it was such a pain trying to keep those boxes in working condition throughout the years. If the old Nintendo systems had hard cases (like the Genesis) I'd probably like them a lot more, but yeah. So for the fact that they're a bit annoying to care for, I don't really bother. This mainly just applies to the Nintendo systems though for me. Like with disc based games I definitely want the case and I'll usually try and go for black labels for the PSX.

Boxes are a burden. Take up space and have to be protected. Cart only for me.

Oh agreed, boxes with Disc games actually serve a purpose(protecting the disc).Xeogred wrote:This mainly just applies to the Nintendo systems though for me. Like with disc based games I definitely want the case and I'll usually try and go for black labels for the PSX.
And greatest hits games are just eyesores to me.

The only boxes/cases I care about are genesis cases because they are very easy to find and they help me keep my games more organized. I wouldn't go out of my way for them but if I see the game with case for like 5 bucks more, I would buy it.

For GBA, I can't be bothered to track down the actual cardboard boxes since majority of them are cart only. In addition, finding complete GBA games cost more money and are a lot more difficult to obtain.
Personally, I just order empty NDS cases from Nintendo and then print out awesome covers from TheCoverProject. I might occasionally track down a manual for a GBA game from ebay or Videogameinstructionbooklets.com.
It also doesn't help that I acquired about 20+ games from Gamestop's B2G2 for an insanely cheap amount of money.

Wow I forgot NDS cases had those GBA slots, haha. That's a pretty good idea.

Most of the old Nintendo games that I have are boxed, although thats just the way its worked out. I'm not all that fussy if the games originally came in cardboard boxes, but if they came in proper plastic case then I would def prefer to have it. I'd be hard pushed to buy a MD game without the box
