have you played all 13 mario games?
in honor of playing through all 13 of the main mario games over a 4.5-year span, i've posted my personal ranking of all the games on my blog. i've also cajoled noiseredux into providing an alternate perspective, and am interested in seeing what everyone thinks. you can find the post here: http://geozeldadude.wordpress.com/2011/ ... os-series/. let us know what your favorite is!

I did'nt think Super Mario Land 1 and 2 were considered 'main series' as they lacked Miyamoto.
EDIT: I find including Super Mario Land 1 and 2 but not Yoshi's Island (Which was made by Miyamoto) an odd choice.

Yoshi's Island was a Yoshi game, not really a Mario game. So I can see it.emwearz wrote:I did'nt think Super Mario Land 1 and 2 were considered 'main series' as they lacked Miyamoto.

i love SMW2, but, yeah, i don't think it's usually considered to be a mario game, despite being similar to SMW.

since it's GZD's blog, I went by his list of included titles. I have NOTHING to add to this over-debated debate.geozeldadude wrote:i love SMW2, but, yeah, i don't think it's usually considered to be a mario game, despite being similar to SMW.

I'll just say this...
Yoshi's Island >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Yoshi's Story.

I would agree with you, but the nostalgia from Yoshi's story is overwhelming me...Xeogred wrote:I'll just say this...

Re: have you played all 13 mario games?
the odd years of mario games are better then even years in that picture provided by the linker page. example super mario bros., SMB3, SM64, etc
I'm surprised no one mentioned Mario bros. arcade.

*gets ready to make inflammatory statement*
..Yoshi's Island is quite possibly the best platformer of all time, if not one of the top three. It easy wipes the floor with all the Mario titles mentioned in your ranking! The DS version is such a travesty.
I agree with Noise, when ranking so called "pure" Mario titles, I'd put Super Mario World at the top too. Including Super Mario Land in the top was a great choice too. Great (if not somewhat bizarre) entry to the series. The sequel just didn't measure up somehow (6 Golden Coins).
