Alright, a month or two ago, a rogue HDMI switch came to life and went after my graphics card and PS3 with a chainsaw while praising Beelzebub.
Okay, not really, but it did mess up and deliver a nasty jolt to them, killing the PS3, and ruining my graphics card, I have since scolded it and put it in time out.
The only thing that appears to have been damaged in the PS3 is the motherboard, so I ordered a CECHA01 today, as I wanted to get one with BWC, the old one was a CECHG01, now, the one I ordered has a bad Blu-Ray drive, and I was wondering if I can just swap the controller boards and use the old one's Blu-Ray drive in the new one, I have seen two charts that say the CECHG01 and CECHA01 use the same drive, or at least laser assembly, I just wanted to know if anyone can tell me for sure, I'm not afraid of getting my hands dirty.
Really would like to avoid dropping the dough on a new drive for this thing, but I'll do whatever is necessary, looking forward to being able to play all my PS games on one console.
PS3 Blu-Ray Drives
Re: PS3 Blu-Ray Drives
If the bluray assembly is fine you can switch controller boards. If that doesn't work then you need to have a CFW PS3 and there's an application out there that allows you to marry entire bluray drives (including the controller board) to the motherboard.thelolotov wrote:Alright, a month or two ago, a rogue HDMI switch came to life and went after my graphics card and PS3 with a chainsaw while praising Beelzebub.
