I might buy this one today. I loved Okami on the PS2 and frankly, we need more games like this. Too many of the same damn games with just different names coming out in the industry these days. Hey look! another shooter that's just like every other damn shooter you've played
Anyone picked up Okamiden?

Anyone picked up Okamiden?
Anyone try this yet?

Hey look! Another weird Japanese game to wank over, because everything that comes from Japan IS SO GREAT!111!!11!1!!1
:wank: :wank: :wank:
I don't find the game particularly fun. It's very simplistic. You're always shown exactly where to go, and the puzzles are very simple. You earn most of the abilities very quickly, and it just becomes a rote "need light? draw sun", etc.

Wasn't Okami pretty much just a really well done Zelda clone? I remember that being the big thing people always said about it...
so uh... Look, another Zelda clone!
(I liked Okami)

I liked Okami, but it dragged a bit near the end for me. I do plan on buying Okamiden, but it's not currently at the top of my list.
I hear it's pretty hard to find though, i've not seen it in-store anywhere. I imagine its not too hard to find online though

I'm still on the fence with this one. Thankfully, that's why man created R4 to try before you buy.
I really enjoyed the Wii version of Okami, though it took me just shy of 2 years to beat it. Not sure if that was due to my interest waning the first time or my massive backlog, but I really felt satisfied with the final product.

I have it pre ordered - it's out on Friday where I live. Really enjoyed the Wii version, not much else to say. I just hope I can find time with it since Pokemon White is taking up a lot of my time at the moment.

Re: Anyone picked up Okamiden?
I saw early reviews for this and thought the US version was out already. Guess I have to wait until tomorrow.
I loved a couple things about the original, besides the obvious(the visuals). I thought the combat system was fun when you played it properly(i.e. going for best ranks and finding enemy weaknesses). I enjoyed the game's world and finding things to do in it.
I thought the story, the characters and the whole universe of the game had a lot of genuine heart. The game was at its heart, all about helping the world in every way possible. That meant helping people, helping animals and restoring nature. It's sort of like the Oddworld games in a way. The game made me care about what I was doing. This is what elevates games like this and Beyond Good and Evil above the Zelda games that influenced them in my opinion. The stories and characters make me care. Modern Zelda never pull that off for me. Ocarina didn't do it and neither did Twilight Princess.
I also loved the game's many references to japanese mythologies, which the instruction book covered quite well
I saw a trailer for Okamiden and all of those elements still seem to be there.
