Post by kenshin-dono »

anyone know how to open up a GBA game? Ive gotten the bit for SNES, NES, Genesis, ect games, but i just picked up golden sun 1 and 2 for GBA and would like to open and clean them, but am not really sure how. I cant find any videos on Youtube and google searching insn't really helping. Im guessing i need a special screwdriver or something, then what, just pop it open clean it and put it back? what type of tool do i need? thnx

You need a Tri-Wing screwdriver.

And that's really all there is to it.

I thought this was a thread about opening new GameBoy Advance games and taking them out of the box. I'm kinda disappointed...

Sometimes you can find tri-wing screwdrivers with cell phone tools and stuff locally.

hmm i couldn't find any at home deopt at all.. theyre called tri wing bits right? The guy had no idea what it was and couldn't match it when i showed him the cart

im not sure where cell phone tools would be. ANyone know of any stores that would carry this? Maybe i'll try orchard later

*edit*
Tried Orchard, kragen and even radio shack. No luck I notice amazon has some:

though the reviews seem to indicate its a POS that wears out after one use. Id really rather get one in a store of some kind. Can anyone think of a retail chain that might carry them, or an online store that has better quality ones

I bought one on Amazon (not that model I don't think).

It's pretty simple. A braindead technoob like myself can handle it.

I'm not surprised you are having a hard time finding one locally. Its a specialty screw so Nintendo uses them to discourage people from modding the consoles hardware.

Anyways, the one I have has opened up multiple gamecube controls, all my GBA games, my GBA itself and two wiis with almost no wear on it, so I'll see if I can't find a link for you.
