PS1 "hidden gems"

The Playstation 1 generally has one of the most underrated libraryof games of any other console (at least around here it is). We all know of the major games that most people loved on the PS1, such as Crash Bandicoot and Gran Turismo. What are the games that not many people know about but should. Here's my pick:
Syphon Filter
This game is like a cross between Metal Gear and Call of Duty. It's a nice mix of action and stealth, with a nice assortment of weapons as well.
just a little off topic, but Syphon Filter 3 is a single disc game, but comes in a double disc case, like Final Fantasy IX. Any idea what that's about?

Maybe it had a big booklet, I dunno but it's not out of the ordinary.

Legend of Legaia had the 2 disc case with 1 disc too. Also... I would argue that Legend of Legaia is somewhat of a gem. Doesn't usually get brought up with the big name PSX RPGs. How about....
Spriggan Lunar Verse
King's Field series
Shadow Tower
Croc
Carnage Heart
elmagicochrisg, nice call on Apocalypse.

Yes, Croc
I would suggest Board Game Top Shop

I love the Battle Assault series on PS1. It's great as a fighting game and a gundam game; also, iirc, it is inexpensive.

I just pulled this game out last week for a little while. I still love how smooth the combat feels.

I always tell people about Top Shop!!!!!!!!!! That game is so addicting! That was going to be my suggestion.
I'll dig through my PSX collection and try to find something worthy (that was released.. thrill kill doesn't count!)
