This is why I just play games and gave up on collecting.

http://www.rewindreplay.com/super-mario ... ar-demand/ While I'm glad that this is being reprinted for those who missed it, I can't help but feel a tad disappointed at the same time. I just can't believe how many people were willing to shell out over $60 for such a mediocre, incomplete and obvious lazy cash in of Super Mario Bros.
Nintendo put basically zero effort in celebrating its most revered & cherished character and people still bought it in droves. I'll tell you what, if I had a character that made me billions of $ I can certainly think of better ways of celebrating him and his loyal fans than this boxed full of feces. For a collector I guess it doesn't matter because they'll never open and play it anyways. But for a long time Nintendo fan that actually plays his games frequently, this tiny compilation was a disappointment for me.
P.S I know this has already been argued, I just needed to vent.

What? Ninty decided to reprint this poor excuse for a compilation instead of reprinting Metroid Prime Trilogy?
Ugh.

It's an attractive box, but I'm not sure that it's $60 attractive. Even at MSRP, I'm not sure that it's $30 attractive. I guess I'd pay like $10 for it.

For casual or new gamers who have never played the games before, its a good collection. For collectors, it really depends on how much you want the booklet / soundtrack combo.
OP, price is $30 dollars. Not $60, which probably helped push so many copies.

lol! love this comment.
As a collector who saw this become an instant collectable I have mixed feelings. I wanted to buy it and couldnt because it was sold out... so now I have the chance. However it was cool seeing a game released that was truly looking like it would be rare and limited release. I was also thinking it would be awesome when I scored one off of craigslist for $15-20 and it was worth $80-$100 someday. Now that will not be the case.
p.s. beside the cool box and cover arts, the actual game collections is crap. mario world 1 and 2 would have pushed it over the top and they drop the ball big time. how can they possibly feel good about putting mario all stars for the snes on a dvd?! hell they even had a mario all stars and mario world release for the snes.... the couldnt even pick that edition to copy?

I think he means people have been paying $60 bucks for it on ebay.
I agree, Corn. It's an absolutely pathetic release. they at could've at least added the original 8 bit versions , mario world 1 and 2 and maybe even mario 64.

I felt the same way about NSMB (although at least that was an original game if a rehash, calling the collection a rehash would imply that there was any new hash added or perhaps a rearranged or remodeled portion of hash in the game. I suppose this would make the collection just a regular hash). The problem in this situation is just that the games keep selling like crazy, despite the poor quality of the title (relatively speaking). Not only does it create incentive to make similar products, it takes away incentive to bother with actually putting time and production into a new game when it's just going to get beat in sales by something a team of 3 guys put together in a month.
It's like this idea was just kind of tossed around at an R&D meeting and barely made it into production, but then the sales numbers came in. There was a brief pause of silence and contemplation, and then the executives burst down the door to the development office and said STOP EVERYTHING YOU'RE DOING AND MAKE MORE MARIO.

This compilation is very disappointing as a fan of Mario. It is nice they are reprinting it so people can find a copy for a reasonable price but aside from the soundtrack and nice box art there isn't much in terms of content. I was expecting much better.
