80 wasted dollars

Bought a Saturn and the modchip for a total of 80 dollars, now the Saturn is dead so its wasted money. Turns out it had a Sanyo board, tried everything to get the chip to work and nothing. Now the Saturn won't even play originals, had I known that Sanyo boards wouldn't work with the chip I would have never bought the Saturn. Oh well I guess its time for me to save up for a 360, at least until they do a price drop.

Do you have any stay solder on the Saturn that would be causing it not to work?

or just get another saturn as they are pretty darn cheap these days.

I dont know much about the board, I thought it was down to the cd controller and the number or legs it had? Sounds like a bad install if it doesnt play originals, I would take the chip out and clean it up to get the originals working then try again. Do you have any experience in soldering / chipping?

It was one of the less frequent Sanyo boards... there success rate is very low. There is a point to solder on under the CD Board if the AB method fails... but it too is low success rate, and isn't well documented either. I've done it twice and only once worked.

A few things. The modchip more than likely still works. I got my Saturn for $30 on eBay. If you make sure you get a system with round buttons and not oval buttons you have a very good chance of getting a board you can mod.

I can understand why you might not want to try again, but if you do those are some hints for ya.

If it makes you feel any better I destroyed a PS2 trying to mod it. That was more than $80. Heh.

Same here and it was 3 years ago so you can imagine the pain!!!!!!!!!!!!

well i´ve had 2 saturns that have stopped working..one simply didn boot anymore and the other crashes the bios if i have a cd in it..but hey its only money
