Cleaning of carts...
So I wanna clean my N64, SNES and NES cartridges. I have a few N64 Cartridges with corrosion that I picked up from various thrift stores; whats a great way to remove corrosion? As well as a general way to clean the contacts on N64, SNES, NES. Electrical contact cleaner? Eraser for corrosion?

with many different opinions on whats the accepted way. I could tell you my way, but my way is too controversial.

Best way is wieman with some clean-up alcohol. Anyone who says Alcohol alone isn't getting them cleaned for real, only the top fine layer. It's not the right way to do it.

Usually if it's just grime i'll use an eraser on the contacts until it shines, then use 91% alcohol afterward.
If theres heavy corrosion i use a low grade steel wool to remove it, then use the alcohol.
Ideally, you want to be able to open the cart itself and clean it too.

It's too bad that Nintendo doesn't still use carts. Then you could use Wieman on your Wii, man.3GenGames wrote:Best way is wieman with some clean-up alcohol.

Contact cleaner is how I clean mine. I would first clean it that way before using abrasives. You would be surprised that they still work at times. Also keep in mind, if you remove that corrosion, it can leave the layer underneath even more susceptible to corrosion.

Tried lots of ways, in general the alcohol works great. But for better cleaning, or the tough ones, I found the ammonia paste best.
