My experience in Animal Crossing DAY 2

Post by Flake »

Okay, so inspired by lisalovers recent review, I decided to buy Animal Crossing and give it a spin. Here are my experiences so far:

------------
Day 1:

The economy of the town I have moved to, Onionton, is quite perplexing. As far as I can tell each person is their own monopoly of the cottage industry they engage in, save for Mr. Nook, my employer at the general goods store. Even the mayor seems to fear him.

Today, Mr. Nook made my first day a busy one. Despite the freezing conditions, he had me racing around town for all kinds of absurd reasons. For instance he wanted me to meet people. Meet People? Shit, man. It is cold outside and you want me to risk pneumonia just to say hi to some psychotic squirrel? The rest of the day I was engaged in writing a circular to his customers, threatening them to come and buy things at Mr. Nook's store lest I burn their homes down.

On the subject of homes, I am having great difficulty reconciling that Mr. Nook is my landlord, employer, and banker all at the same time. I see a definite conflict of interest. Sadly I was given no choice but to enter into a terribly lopsided arrangement with him, putting me terribly into debt just so I could have a shed to sleep in. The townspeople seem indifferent to my plight, though.

-----------
Day 2:

Onionton's communist facade cracks. One of the largest issues of this small settlement is that no one respects anyone else's personal property.

Case in point: Bubbles came up to me today and asked me if I could get a "Handkerchief" back from Bones the Dog. When I finally caught up with the mutt he seemed terribly surprised to see me. He damn near shat himself when I mentioned I was there to get the "handkerchief". He coughed it up finally so I let him keep his excuses.

And his knee caps.

But that's how it seems to be here in Onionton. And I do not know if I can do anything to fix things.

Maple got my letter. She showed me the circular where I had threatened to burn her home down if she didn't visit my boss, Mr. Nook's store more often. She did not in so many words acknowledge my threat. She did, however, clearly insinuate that she was keeping the letter and was more than prepared to show it to others. She went on to say that she would be happy to show it to anyone who visited Onionton. I think I made an enemy today.

Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Whoa! It's the year 2002 and I'm reading in-character AC Live Journals! :D

I adore AC. I have from the first minute on the GC and still as recently as - yup - last night, when Redd visited.

And Redd is one of those arguably outside of Nook's sphere of influence. As I think Gulliver is also.

Tip! Write lots of letters and you might receive some exotic fruit- the gift that keeps on giving.

I feel like it. I've taken to digging up the landscape around houses where people are constantly "borrowing" other peoples shit. Kitty is the worst offender so far. When the revolution comes, she's first up against the wall.
