Water-damaged Saturn manuals/artwork

Hey guys, I recently had a good find of a bunch of Sega Saturn games (16 or so) for $30. Unfortunately some of them had taken in water somehow and are now have that wavy water-damaged look. Luckily the ones I bought it for, In the Hunt and Clockwork Knight 2, were not damaged and those plus all of the cases which are in good condition make this worthwhile.

My question is, does anyone know a good way of getting the manuals and what not into a better condition? I've heard of ironing with a damp towel. Any thoughts?

I've always considered "fixing" water damage on that kind of stuff to be a lost cause personally

I think using an iron on a low setting (with the steam setting off) would be about the only option. Or setting each individual page between heavy books for a few days each, maybe?

I would usually agree with the lost cause aspect, but I am trying for a complete US collection, should I care about a little water damage to NFL Quarterback Club '96? Especially a game like this which had the crappy Akklaim cases that had the plastic insert, the backs for these are almost always damaged.

I am right now drying them out and stacking things on top to get them straight. Upon closer inspection only the back artwork is water damaged everything else seems fine (manuals, etc.)

Still consider this a win, as I got In the Hunt and Clockwork Knight 2 for $30.

I wouldn't worry about a little water damage to games like that really. I've got a couple of water damaged cases around here I'm sure

I agree. Its not worth the trouble.

You could try putting them between two flat pieces of wood (or two flat anything really) and putting a stack of bricks on them for a few days. It won't fix any color issues but that tends to fix or at least help water-logged paper (personally I've never tried it on a manual).

If there are creases, you can usually work those out with a bone folder or a teflon bone folder (can find those at Michaels or a craft store)

I would just look online, people always have spare manuals around

You could always try sticking it in a bag of rice or salt, they suck up the water. At least for electronics, not quite sure about paper though.
