Shantae (GBC): Glitch preventing my completion?

I've been playing the copy of Shantae I picked up from Space Booger about a year ago. It's a great game, but I think I've caused some sort of bug that's preventing me from continuing. I'm in the Twinkle Palace Labyrinth (Labyrinth #4). I've already received the Harpy Dance, and after scouring the entire maze, I'm sure I have all the keys. Despite this, the final locked door (the one before the boss) refuses to open. Apparently, this has happened to at least one other person (link below). Does anyone have any idea why this is happening or how I can fix it? My only guess is that I got the key and did some combination of actions that caused the game to forget I'm holding a key, but remember that I solved the puzzle which gives it. x_x

Sorry man, this this is a gem, especially for me. I love Metroidvania style platformers.
