In regards to boxart...

Post by Ducky »

Hi there,

I'm very picky when it comes to boxart. I like the censorship label to be small, the back to only cover one language and for the spines to have a logo or art on the side. I will take liberties when the cover art is exceptional.

I reside in New Zealand, but I never buy games here because the Australasian rating label, OFLC, use these large and gaudy labels that cover a significant portion of the boxart. This puts me right off, since the ESRB, PEGI and BBFC labels are much smaller.

For games from the sixth generation back, I tend to buy NTSC versions because they have the artistic spines and because they have English text exclusively on the back. However, since NTSC games this generation have bilingual backs, I've since switched over to PAL. (it's not racism, I swear! :D)

However, I bought my first UK PAL Wii game, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, to replace my AU PAL copy. The first thing I noticed was that the spine didn't have a logo on it like my Australian copy did.

So my question is, for the British gamers out there (perhaps this is the wrong forum to be asking in :D), is this common for all Wii games? Do any UK PAL Wii games come with logos on the sides? If so, I will have to take this into consideration.

Thanks!

I checked a few PAL UK games (only got a small selection I'm afraid) and the only thing I see is an age rating on the front. The sides have the normal logo of the game, nothing more...

I'm an NTSC gamer, but in my experience, many many PAL games just have text on the spine, as opposed to a logo. I think it looks depressing :P

I'm Canadian, so I'm biased, but I think the North American copies are the best. So what if there's French and Spanish on there? Those are popular languages of the western world :) And the package is 99% English anyway. I never notice the other languages.
