Good Luck, Panasonic.

Post by lisalover1 »

It looks like the 3DS and PSP2 won't be the only gaming handhelds in the console war this generation. Panasonic just announced the Panasonic Jungle, meant to be a handheld designed specifically for online games and MMORPGs. It is a very interesting idea; I'm curious to see what they do with it. The news certainly came out of left field; Panasonic hasn't made a console since the 3DO. The device has a touchscreen, a physical keyboard, a D-Pad, face buttons, and shoulder buttons, so it seems to want to beat the PSPhone to the punch for a cellphone/handheld console combo.

The keyboard seems small enough to be unusable for gaming.

More competition the better! Not optimistic with this one though, cheap netbook fills that niche already.

I happen to quite like my PSP GO! Once you play PSP games with that screen, all the other PSP units are just dull in comparison. :)

..and this Jungle thing is just bizarre. Is there really that much of a market niche for this product? It's like a proper commercial pandora..only not.
