Right, you would need a programmer so that you can burn the chips. Really doesn't pay off if you just wanna make one chip for yourself, but I guess it'd be worth the investment if you wanna make them to sell or something.

I can't recommend where to buy from because I don't know where you're located.

hiya Ziggy , im an Aussie boy .............

I dont want to sell them , in time i want to buy 2 more from a place in Canada i know and they go for 15US each. By the time i pay for them and pay postage i may as well make my own , plus i want to make my own to future proof my PSX's (i have 6 atm and plan buying another one soon).

You're on the right track. That little USB programmer might work out alright, but from what I've seen and heard, cheap programmers from China can be a headache. Especially the software you have to use with it. But it's you're call. If you only wanna burn 6-12 chips and never have to use a programmer again, then why spend more money? Otherwise, I'd just get a Willem direct from Sivava.

But after all that, there's nothing really too complicated about the whole thing. Get whatever flash chip the read me file calls for and burn the file to it. It's pretty much like burning a CD.

Why not build your own programmer?

This the programmer I use

This is where I get my PICs from

Also get and IC Socket. This way you can have a PSX for testing all program chips.
