As someone who has 6 XBox 360s sitting around unused, I can say that they're mostly irrelevant now. Even if I modded one to do everything and stuck a relatively large hard-drive in it full of games, I don't know anyone who would want one. I even have one hooked up to a 3D capable projector with a 100" screen and 6 pairs of active-shutter glasses on a charger. Nearly all of the 3D capable 360 games sitting in the collection never used, and a hard-drive full of 3D movie files. Just like 3D technology and the Kinect, nobody cares. Depressing.

I literally consider the 360 "modern" games

From the standpoint of design sensibilities they were modern, many of them. It’s mostly graphics tech that has advanced in the past 15-20 years. Core A-AAA game design has not largely changed.

My "childhood" consoles were the NES and Genesis and folks saying theirs were released in the 2000s makes me feel ancient! :cry: :lol:

There is something funny about ps3 -> generation of consoles. No one longs to them like previous consoles. I think the lack of change/advancement in the games and the continuous ports killed it. There are some unique games but not so much. SNES ->N64 was completely different world. Xbox consoles especially no one cares about I think because most of the library is on PC.

The only exception is the Wii. Wii-U not so much.

maybe I am old, but I just do not see much graphical jump. I know its there, but not enough to look at 360 as "previous generation" graphics .

@bone

Can I play this?

The lack of in-game translation is troubling…

Am I wrong to think the 3DO has better graphics than psx/N64? I feel like it had untapped potential

At best the 3DO is an interesting curio with a handful of games that only die-hard retro gaming enthusiasts with a fondness for '90s nostalgia would get a kick out of.

Folks like me.

Also, pretty fucked that the 3DO was the only US-released home console to get a port of Alone in the Dark, though it's still more than AitD3 got.
