Bet you didn't know...
Bet you didn't know...
George Lucas gets a chunk of change for every Droid phone sold, since "droid" is a direct reference to Star Wars.
Re: Bet you didn't know...
Really!? I'm not sure how true that is, the word 'Android' existed long before Star Wars surely - EDIT; You mean the phone, it's called something else over here. Everyday Lucas looks more and more like a long game playing genius..

really? I'm pretty sure the word is public domain since it's been used way before star wars in books, and I remember reading that MechWarrior was originally BattleDroid but Lucas sued them, and the company could prove that droid is a public domain word but chose not to cause they were asking for the Star Wars license at the time so they decided to change the name of their game to MechWarrior instead.
but then again George Lucas ripping off other people's ideas is hardly original.

unless it's directly riping off (for example, a cola drink comes out called coka cola) this only makes me think that it's a broken system of patent trolling.

What the hell does this mean for me? Do I have to pay to use my own name?

The only way to deactivate the ray beam and fight back the vampire alien threat is with a complicated series of foot patterns on the device's control board that looks remarkably like a DDR pad. We will all praise this man for saving our lives and buy him a mountain of stuffed animals.

I bet he does, especially with the limited R2-D2 edition coming in september. I could care less about Droids or smartphones in general, but this looks pretty cool.
