AEW's problem is a lack of consistency. They'll have a great PPV or a great moment or story line, but then they piss away all of that momentum and just go back to being unfocused again. It's really irritating. I wish the company just had some direction. I feel like Tony is just all over the place. I feel like AEW doesn't have a vision right now or an identity. They're not even the cool alternative anymore as in many ways they have become as stale, boring, and at times ridiculous (see MJF/Adam Cole storyline) as WWE used to be.

As for WWE, the most interesting thing for me lately has been WWE's women's division. I say this because there is a sense of anything being possible. I don't know when Tiffany Stratton is going to cash in. I don't know how long Liv Morgan will be champion. Roxanne Perez could drop the title at any time, probably to Julia but that isn't set in stone. On top of all that WWE has two new women's titles that need to be crowned on someone.

By contrast, when I look at WWE's men's division I just see brick walls. We know Cody isn't dropping the title any time soon. Hell, he never even loses matches. They don't really have anyone ready to take Gunther's title, except arguably Jey Uso. They clearly have no creative direction for Raw's tag titles, so nothing interesting there either. They barely ever even defend them. The men's divisions in WWE are just on cruise control right now. The only really interesting thing is the New Day heel turn which is getting nuclear heat, but where is that ultimately gonna go?

I agree with you on the DVD thing. Digital content of any kind in 2024 is a joke unless it involves a sail boat and pirate hat. Physical collecting has more value now than ever before.

Yup. It's sad so much gets lost. Physical media is something you own and it captures a moment in time authentically as it happened. No problematic individuals retrospectively being cut out or alterations being made, no music being edited out due to lost licences etc. it's not even like WWE is consistent with this stuff either. They went through a phase of editing out Seth's curbstomp at one point and he was banned from using it. Then it quietly returned.

One guy told me this once, the problem with the physical media is the player. Beta max, cassette , VHS, and even DVDs are starting to get rare and even if you probably have to jump through hoops to connect it to a modern HDMI tv.

I think we'll be alright for a while, but there will be a time when players become harder to acquire. We'll see though... CD players still aren't rare or difficult to buy.

Blu-Ray players are getting harder to buy. LG and Samsung are no longer manufacturing new units and will be out of the market when current supplies run dry. Other manufacturers like Sony are still making older models but have no plans to introduce new models.

Well there's always Playstations. A lot of early PS2 sales were because people wanted DVD players. I feel like actual blu ray players are obsolete when you can just use your game console

Probably can buy PC blu ray drives too

Give this woman a title, I think she's honestly the only interesting thing in AEW's women's division right now:

Toni Storm is the only person actually over in AEW. I don't blame them for continuing the story. She landed on her head at All In, right? And then wondered into the streets of London and wasn't seen since? I am guessing they are doing an amnesia or further descent into madness storyline.

Harley Cameron is great though.

Anyone watch Saturday Night Main Event? I just started now. Drew vs Sami was a good start.
