My guess is that laser is toast, overworked running without a lens to focus the beam. Lens itself maybe scratched up. Even replacing the lens, the alignment is out. Does the servo still move up and down (holding door switch) when first powering on? A last desperate measure, you could try adjusting the POT.

Salut

the laser works and no scratch, it tried to read disk ... but the servo seems to be broken , when i put the like cart to the top and start the dreamcast , it go all the way down and stay here ...

normaly the laser cart is suppose to move while reading disk ? no ?
With door switch depressed. Laser will normally kick up and down trying to get initial focus. After that the disc will then spin. The laser will track adjusting itself as needed. If the disc does not spin at all then a focus never happened. Is the laser lens clean and clear, handled with a cloth top and bottom with no finger prints at all? Also how is it staying in place? Any looseness will prevent a focus due to vibration. Since you did observe the laser move down and all the questions checked off, a very slight chance the potentiometer adjustment might work.

That laser not good for the eyes, be careful. Looks like laser is trying to read since the disc is spinning. If the glue hasn't fogged the lens on the inside a chance. Try adjusting the POT in small increments, remember where the setting screw starts.

Turning the varipot clockwise or conter-clockwise ?
Either way, just a small amount one way, then the other. IMPORTANT to remember or mark the baseline. For better accuracy you could read the resistance value with an OHM meter before you start.

Yes , i understand french .
Thank you for the information ... i gonna try to repair it myself .
you shouldn't speak French here , RacketBoy is an English forum and i don't want you to be Ban/Block for that .

Ps : J'ai acheter cet dreamcast la pour 1$ + 13$ shipping , c'est pas comme si j'avais perdus 50$.
Trust me man, we won't ban you for speaking another language, our foreign members are always welcome! Plus, we're always happy to help you out especially in a language that makes all your repairs easier to do.

Anyhow, these guys are pretty much on track for the repair process and whatnot, but check with the guy on ebay to see what his DOA (dead on arrival)/Return policy is too.
