A quick question about the 360...

Post by Incognito D »

My brother bought a 360 yesterday. It's pretty cool. We've set up our individual profiles/avatars/gamertags but haven't got around to setting up our Xbox Live Gold 1 month trial yet.
What I was wondering is, do you have to purchase individual subscriptions for each profile, or does the Xbox Live yearly fee cover your whole console and all the profiles saved on it.
I only ask because obviously I'd prefer to use my own avatar when playing online as I'd guess that it comes with advantages like being able to earn achievements/ improve your gamerscore etc...

(Forgive me - I'm new to all this complicated 21st Microsoft gaming  )

Unfortunately its only one profile per xbox live subscription. Thats only roughly $80/year for the 2 of you to enjoy all you can eat online gaming action!

Only eh? I still think you can play 2player with 1 profile. I've seen payers with the same name with a (1) next to them to signify they're splitscreening online with 1 xboxlive subscription but i'm no expert being the only geek in the family

I think you're both right. You can multiplayer using one Live subscription but if you want to play solo you'll need to be on the single Live account.

Thanks for the info, guys. Looks like we'll each be shelling out for our own subscriptions then! I have to work out what games to buy for it anyway - so far all I've really considered has been the XBLA versions of Banjo Kazooie and Perfect Dark - I'm so set in my retro Nintendo ways

Yes and no.

You can game online with just one Xbox Live Gold account on the system however, not all games support it. Certain games won't let you connect unless everybody has a gold gamertag.

Don't buy your subs from Microsoft or a store. They're a rip off. I get mine from cheapxboxlivecodes.com They send them out the same day via email. It used to be £25.99 but it has since risen to £27.99 but it's still much cheaper than buying it direct or from amazon or whatever. Plus you don't have to wait for the post. I've never had a single problem with any of my codes from there, they have all worked perfectly, I think I've bought at least 6 codes from there, I used to use them when they were just an ebay shop.
